Ping Wang 王平

Welcome! I am a faculty member at the University of Maryland, College Park, Associate Editor for the MIS Quarterly, and Research Associate with the Information Systems Research Program at UCLA. My research draws on institutional theory to understand the popularity of new information technologies. In recent years I have taken an ecological perspective to study digital innovations in organizations, communities, and ecosystems.

A paper I coauthored, "An Ecological View of AI for Sustainability," a top 25% emergent research forum (ERF) paper, is presented at the 30th Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) in Salt Lake City, UT, where I also speak in the panel: "Fostering Responsible IS Research."


A paper I coauthored, "The Organizing Vision of AI for Sustainability," is presented at the 28th Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems (PACIS) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.


I receive the Outstanding Associate Editor Award from MIS Quarterly.

Association for Information Systems (AIS) recognizes me as a Distinguished Member Cum Laude at ICIS 2023 in Hyderabad, India.


Two papers I coauthored, "Trending Topics and Stale Subjects: Detecting Fashion in Information Systems Research," and "Early Diffusion of Innovations with Quantum Computing," are presented at Australasian Conferences on Information Systems (ACIS) in Wellington, New Zealand. The first paper is the runner-up for the Best Paper Award.


The paper, "The NYC311 App & Community Engagement in Coproducing Municipal Services," I coauthored has been identified as a top 25% paper and is invited to be presented in a "spotlight session" at the 29th Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) in Panama City, Panama.
