DICE: Discovering Innovation Communities and Ecosystems

Taking the "eco" in science and technology innovation ecosystems seriously, Professor Brian Butler and I are advancing an ecology theory of innovation ecosystems, developing a set of theoretically-informed metrics for characterizing developing innovation ecosystems, and creating a computational-enabled dataset creation and management platform.

 

 

STICK: Science and Technology Innovation Concept Knowledge-base

This project is sponsored by the National Science Foundation, under a Science of Science and Innovation Policy grant. Professors Yan Qu, Ben Shneiderman, and I led an interdisciplinary team to achieve two primary goals: (1) to build a collection of studies that examine the emergence and evolutions of science and technology innovations, and (2) to develop a set of visual analytic tools for monitoring and understanding such emergence and evolution. PopIT: Scalable Computational Analysis of the Diffusion of Technological Concepts
