Welcome! I am Professor and Director of the Master of Information Management program at the University of Maryland, College Park, Associate Editor for the MIS Quarterly, and Research Associate with the Information Systems Research Program at UCLA, where I earned my Ph.D. in Information Systems. My research draws on institutional theory and discourse analysis to understand the popularity of information and digital technologies. In recent years I have taken an ecological perspective to study digital innovations - how and why organizations, industries, communities, and ecosystems innovate with digital technologies, such as quantum computing, AI, blockchain, and big data, in settings like enterprise IT, tourism, open innovation, cybersecurity, e-government, supply chain, and sustainable development.

A joint research commentary I coauthored with 18 other colleagues in the Information Systems field, entitled "Digital resilience for the climate crisis: A multi-perspective analysis," is published in the first issue of MIS Quarterly's 50th volume.

At the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), I co-host a Table Talk on "Digital Resilience for the Climate Crisis" with Nigel Melville and Waifong Boh. Here is our handout. In addition, I also serve as a mentor at the paper development workshop for MIS Quarterly Executive's special issue on "The Future of AI in the Enterprise."

At the Academy of Management's 85th Annual Meeting, I participate in two professional development workshops: (1) Language and Management: A Panoramic View of Theorization and Methodology, and (2) Entrepreneurial Ecosystems 2025: Global, Green, Governance, and Growing. Also, I present a paper, coauthored with Amanda Stein and Wayne Lutters, "The Organizing Vision for Quantum Sensing: Case Studies in Neuroscience and Geophysical Surveying."
